Michael Falkenstein, Klaus-Dieter Michel, Frank Riepe have been working since 1995 on the ARTWARPEACEsculptureplan (AWP). The aim is not primarily the aestetic appearence of sculpture, but the moment of examination and approach: the artistic examination of a variety of realities and their forms of appearence, as well as the tension which is created when these various realities are placed in relation to one another, or when they are replaced or complemented by newly found, real or fake realities. One of the projects of AWP is 'Endschutzsender für Luzern'. As a paradigmatic place for institutional tourism, for us, Lucerne is an object and projection area for a game plan. A work which weaves itself around the question of the habitability of cities in a field of tension between collective phantasy and projection, and the important aspects of daily life. It concerns the museumisation of urban spaces, and influencing aspects which effect the marooning of these spaces, the spaces within them, and the people who live within this spaces. How does the image of an urban area change because of the legends which are circulated about them? What is ultimatly possible and what not? To what extent is the image collective property or a common area of projection; what associations are permitted and what are not, and who is allowed to express them and in what form? And last but not least: in what way can these projections be brought over and what is the relationship to virtual reality and the reality of real space? The work weaves itself around the subject of a virtual siege such as banking, hotels, the media, tourism, politics and violance. Translated using the materials and design methods of new media and the computer game, the Web is used as a place for the game plan and as a thinktank; as an area for preparation and translation simultaneously. Exposed to global observation, the borders of locality become blurred.

Arbeit seit 1995 an dem Netzprojekt ARTWARPEACEsculptureplan M.Falkenstein, K.D.Michel, F.Riepe Das Ziel ist nicht primär die ästhetische Erscheinung der Skulptur, sondern das Moment der Auseinandersetzung und des Eingriffs; die künstlerische Auseinandersetzung mit den vielfältigen Wirklichkeiten und ihren Erscheinungsformen sowie die Spannungen, die entstehen, wenn diese verschiedenen Wirklichkeiten mit einander in Beziehung gesetzt werden oder durch neue erfundene, reale oder ‘gefakte’ ersetzt oder ergänzt werden. Eines der Projekte von AWP ist der: ENDSCHUTZSENDER FüR LUZERN Luzern als paradigmatischer Ort des institutionalisierten Tourismus ist für uns Gegenstand und Projektionsflä che für ein Planspiel. Eine Arbeit, die sich rankt um Fragen der Bewohnbarkeit von Stä dten im Spannungsfeld kollektiver Phantasie und Projektion und den Notwendigkeiten des tä glichen Lebens. Es geht um die Musealisierung urbaner Rä ume, die Beeinflussungen, denen diese Rä ume und die in ihnen und mit ihnen lebenden Menschen ausgesetzt sind. Wie verändert sich das Bild von einem städtischen Raum durch die Legenden, die über ihn in Umlauf gebracht werden. Was ist möglich und was nicht? Wie weit ist dieses Bild kollektives Eigentum oder gemeinsame Projektionsfläche, welche Assoziation ist erlaubt, welche nicht und wer darf sie äußern und wie? Und nicht zu letzt: wie sind die Wege, über die diese Projektionen transportiert werden, wie ist das Verhä ltnis virtueller Wirklichkeit und der des real space? Die Arbeit rankt sich um die Themen einer virtuellen Belagerung der focus liegt auf sensiblen gesellschaftlichen Bereichen wie Bankwesen, Hotels, Medien, Tourismus, Politik und Gewalt. Umgesetzt mit den Mitteln und dem Design der Neuen Medien und des Computerspiels. Das Net wird genutzt als Ort des Planspiels und als thinktank, als Vorbereitungsort und Umsetzung in einem. Globaler Beobachtung ausgesetzt, verschwimmen die Grenzen des lokalen.
